Here we are!

It's Friday afternoon here and we've been in Dhaka just over a week now! We're feeling pretty settled--having gotten our living area to a level of clean that we can tolerate, figuring out where to buy food and what we can make on a 2-burner stove (think long-term camping!), finding recreation outlets for the girls especially, and getting into a daily routine that looks something like this: after breakfast, Brent and I go upstairs for a 2 hour language class while the girls stay down stairs to play in our guest house area with a house keeper (at least this worked yesterday--we'll see). After class we do home school lessons with the girls which they really enjoy! We all go back upstairs for dal and rice for lunch and then Brent and I study while the girls nap. In the afternoon we try to get out of the house--go to the market, upstairs to play on the roof or to a park that's close by. Most nights we cook dinner back at the guest house, the girls have a "bath" in their buckets, and then we play family games for an hour or so before the girls go to bed and Brent and I study some more &/or watch TV shows on DVD. (last night we started West Wing :) We're finding now that we're settled in a bit that this simple life is enjoyable in so many ways!
Friday is the holy day in this Muslim country so it's the weekend here! We will venture out and try to find a church this afternoon. It is also the 4 year anniversary of the day Anna came into our family so we had fun celebrating this morning at a little amusement park a short walk from our guest house (that experience will have to be recounted in its own post another time!) and we'll go out for Chinese food tonight!

Enjoy the pictures of our journey here and life so far by clicking on the post title. Photos include: coffee with Aunt June and Uncle Wendy in Dubai, the stary sky celing inside our Emirates airplane!, arriving in Kolkata, our retreat with our team, staying at Sarah's place, the journey to Bangladesh and a little tour of our guesthouse.

Hi Snader Family, I'm excited to have added you to my blog reader for easy access to future blog posts! Thinking of you... and at different times I find myself wondering what your days look like as I go through my own routine. I love the photos of the girls and their amazing smiles. I'll be praying for you!
