Trusting

Here are a few words I recently wrote in my journal that summarize some of the last month as I've struggled a bit with culture shock and some frustration in not knowing vocationally what I'm going to be doing here yet.

Struggle.............................frustration...........................anger..................wandering.
wondering..............impatience....................prayerlessness.........................................
......despair.........................stripping...........................refining.............................lost....
.........PURSUED.................humility...........repentance........................renewal.....
...............new identity....................grace..................
death to self.....Life in God

I am finding the place of struggle to be a place of new life for which I am grateful to Him.
Here are a few verses that are speaking to me now.

I know, O Lord that a man's life is not his own.
It is not for man to direct his steps. Jeremiah 10:23

Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding,
in all your ways acknowledge Him and he will direct your paths. Proverbs 3:5-6

But I trust in you, O Lord. I say, "You are my God."
My times are in your hands. Psalm 31:14-15a

Melinda, thank you for your honesty in sharing your place of struggle. I pray you will continue to find God in this place and allow Him to lift your head to His loving gaze.

Thinking of you today...

Praying over y'all with the Hendersons via Skype seems a technological miracle, but the fact that God hears and listens and is at work is the true miracle!!

I was reading this and I thought about the struggles you were having. I hope this helps just the littlest bit.

From A Guide to Prayer For All God’s People, an Upper Room Books publication:

What I am suggesting here is that everything in your life is a stepping-stone to holiness if only you recognize that you do have within you the grace to be present to each moment. Your presence is an energy that you can choose to give or not give. Every experience, every thought, every word, every person in your life is a part of a larger picture of your growth. That’s why I call them crumbs. They are not the whole loaf, but they can be nourishing if you give them your real presence. Let everything energize you. Let everything bless you. Even your limping can bless you.
