Strike One

Yesterday we experienced our first bandh or strike in Kolkata. While there were some minor incidents in isolated pockets of the city, it was actually the nicest day we've had in many ways. All the transportation was halted so the usually clogged and congested streets (as pictured) were wide open. There were even some boys playing cricket on the busiest main road.
