Cyclone Aila (borderline Category 1 vs. Tropical Storm) tore through Kolkata on Monday. It was kind of exciting and certainly cooled things off, but also very sobering for the many lives that are so vulnerable here--so many lay exposed and helpless to the elements. Thankfully the worst damage was the 60mph winds blowing down a lot of trees and for the most part just causing a mess with road blocks and downed wires. Just around the corner from our home was one such tree.
